giving thanks
October 9, 2016
tomorrow is Thanksgiving in Canada
a time to consider how thankful I am
for family, friends, a warm safe home
and the country I live in
this month’s prayer flag celebrates abundance
and the last tomato from my garden
the old napkin is pole wrapped shibori
dyed with kakishibu
the damask pattern shines through the dye and the kantha stitchingfinished spinning the red eri silk
it is only 40 grams and was lovely to spin
weaving committee sashes for the ANWG 2017 Conference
designed and coordinated by committee member Sharon Broadley
the pattern is a plaited twill
the pink seems too Spring-like at this time of year
blessings to everyone

OOOOh love those colours, Jean! I know nothing about weaving but that woven texture is really beautiful. What a talent you are.

Hi Myra – the colours are not my choice, they are the conference colours. The sashes can be worn as scarves after the 5 day conference is over. Seems like a lot of work and the committee has been working for more than 2 years now and the conference is June 28 – July 3, 2017. I personally will be relieved when it is over. Bryan will be teaching a 3 day workshop on making bamboo loom reeds and seminars on stencil cutting/indigo dyeing.

Alice – I dyed it years ago, it is very fragile. It was this or nothing, the colour is perfect.

beadsandfibreslady – thank you from southern Hampshire – in Great Britain? I have such fond memories, I was married there, had my first child and home there, so much life has been lived since then, so many tomatoes grown!
