buttoned up
March 1, 2012
this is the last button workshop before I prepare to go to Japan – I think!
preparing individual supply bags, not my favorite part.
I’ve invented a form of button mould made with available supplies
this is a wrapped braid button made with soutache braid
it needs to be worked over a smaller mould, this is the only braid I could find in the city
and I seem to have bought all of certain sizes of plastic rings.
Victorian Flag
woven over a silk covered mould, the yarn is woven on a thread “warp” and not stitched into the cloth.
last but not least, a ring braid button
and that’s it folks. I’m all buttoned up.

I LOVE the buttons! Will you show me how? And maybe my Guides too (but only if they are not too complex)? We are heading to Craigdarroch Castle on Sunday. It would have been fun to see you there. 🙂 Kathy

Oh, phooey! I didn’t sign up, and couldn’t go this weekend anyway. Darn! Maybe you will offer another workshop when you get back – I’d love to learn the Victorian ones. Have fun!

Heather – maybe the SSI guild would be interested in a little workshop. We had great fun in Duncan.

To think that I will learn how to make some of these very handsome buttons make me wish that we left sooner for Japan and that we stayed longer!
