one stitch at a time

January 20, 2021

a quiet month -but Spring is calling

despite heavy rain and the muddy ground

always the first to bloom with a promise of more to come

tip them up and see the tiny jewel in the center

the boro/kanth stitching always creates a fascinating pattern on the wrong side

I think about making something using this as the right side – might get there yet!

Blue Bear is making progress

the pattern shapes are drawn onto the foundation fabric with a permanent marker

the head gusset is stitched

scraps are positioned on the two head pieces

from the wrong side the seam line is basted in bright thread

and then the scraps are trimmed to help with stitching

Arthur has loaned his toque to Blue Bear while he waits for his head

as Pooh would say “a bear of very little brain”

but now he can run and he has a pocket to keep his hankie

instead of ordering bear joints and waiting for the mail

I found 4 perfect mother-of-pearl buttons in the collection

and now I’m off to finish warping the tapestry loom

and maybe some tea and honey!

Blue bear is just lovely. I have a pot of snowdrops waiting to flower on my window cill- not quite sure why they are waiting, but I shall be patient.

Cathy – I love snowdrops, they always signify that even in the mud and rain, wind and snow we can all survive.

The flowers put a big smile on my face, don’t we all need Spring and the promise of better times? And the bear is a delight!

Hi Blandina – the promise of better times would be welcome at any time of year but I do love the new blossoms in Spring. We are expecting snow today but I’m hoping it stays on the mountains. Hope you are all well.

Sue – I have a “thing’ about pockets, even put them in the fabric books. Guess I’m a bit of a magpie, always collecting bits and pieces.
