bye bye month of May

May 29, 2020

I will not be sorry to see the end of this month

nothing to do with the virus – just taxes

the government gave us extra time to file and I took advantage

when I finally got around to working on it – horrors! there was a mistake on one of my T5 slips

the result – I owed the gov’t $14,000 – that was so ridiculous I knew immediately there was a problem

it took 3 weeks of back and forth to get a fix from the investment co. and I’m still not sure that it will be acceptable

then my computer and the software I’ve used, without a problem, for 5 years had a meltdown

2 days of of sleepless nights and I finally found a solution and was able to click send

2 days before the deadline – whew – I need a cold one

so I’ve been taking my frustration out on the garden

an old brick path was uncovered and a meditation corner created

I moved the fairy house, I hope they find it

if you click on the picture you can see Sir Froggy lounging at the front door

foxgloves are blooming everywhere, I let them self-seed as they are easy to pull if not wanted

and their interior patterns are some of the most amazing in the plant world

beside them the pink peonies fill the yard with a soft, sweet scent

we got to self-isolate on Carrie’s birthday

James complains that I never have Border collies on my blog

so here are Milo

and Bentley

I haven’t completely abandoned fibre

the wedge weave is progressing slowly outside in the sun

and in the evenings when I’m too tired to do anything else

hexies are still coming together

that’s it – see you in June

Hi Blandina – I’ve been thinking about you, hope you are well and the new baby is growing strong and healthy. I spend my days in the garden (my little piece of heaven) talking to the flowers and birds. We will all hope for a new and different future. Hugs 🙂

Hi Velma- nice to hear from you, hope you are managing in this crazy time. Finally getting my taxes sent in was a tremendous relief. Not feeling very creative, spending most of my time in the garden.

I have always filled in apaper tax return but seemingly this year I have to do it on-line – one more new thing to get my head round! When technology goes wrong it seems to do so at the worst possible moment. I love your little fairy house – I had been thinking I need more whimsy in my garden and you have reminded me! Enjoy your foxgloves and your creating.

Sue – It always took me days to finish my tax file on paper, when I finally changed to on-line 5 years ago I couldn’t believe how easy – and quick – it was. This year it was a number of small problems that all added up to a BIG problem. The garden, the dirt and new blooms every week is what kept me sane.

I am very glad you stayed sane! I shall have to choose a goiod day to do my return for the first time – one when I have plenty of time and no other things stressing me. Always something new to learn huh?!

Sue – I don’t know if it works in the UK but I and several friends and family use StudioTax and usually find it quick, easy and efficient. Good luck.

May May slide away, and with it the unpleasantness and anxiety of this strange time. Not too terrible here in BC, but still somehow hard to wake up every day in a world awash with doom and gloom, I hope June is more positive. I like your hexies, I will try and keep on with my waves…

Kjerstin – we are lucky to be in B.C. and even more on the Island. Think we owe a big “thank you” to Dr. Henry and the health minister. Now if people will just follow the rules and we don’t get a second wave all should be good. I think my hexies are much easier than your waves – but they (your waves) are going to be beautiful.
