snow

January 13, 2020

what a difference a day makes

after days of steady rain – my backyard was a lake

now this

Victoria doesn’t always get snow

so it was a bit of a shock to the birds as well as the humans

I was getting low on bird seed so I walked to the store

and carried home a big bag as well as extra suet

keeping the hummingbird feeder thawed is a challenge

but farther North on the B.C. coast – look at this

the Nimpkish ferry after a harrowing trip from Bella Bella to Bella Coola

Every time we have snow or ice here I am unable to get out. I live at the bottom of a valley with a steep hill to negotiate whichever way I turn out of my gate. I love looking at frost and snow on the garden but am quite glad when we have mild winter weather. And having seen pictures of the fires in Australia I have vowed never to moan about the rain again. I hope your snow stays as long as it is fun to have around and then goes away.

Sue – I live on a side street that seldom gets plowed but I can walk to most shops. This Southern area of B.C. has mild winters, some years we don’t get any snow but suddenly we have freezing temps. and significant snow but we are still the best in the province. North of us they are predicting -40 temps. Those fires in Auz are terrifying, I’m not complaining either.
