plodding on
a small step in the right direction
one yard of linsey-woolsey finished
some of my struggles on the backstrap loom are feeling easier
not very exciting but very satisfying
woven with a rigid heddle sett at 12 epi
the 2 ply handspun linen and wool were perfect
after washing it is much softer than expected
maybe it will go into the indigo vat – the two fibres will take the colour differently
occasionally I do a walking tour downtown, in the city I’ve spent most of my adult life
changes are inevitable but some things stay the same
March 17th – St Patrick’s Day
the piper in Inner Harbour is always entertaining
it was a beautiful day and the streets were crowded
in the background is the Customs House on the corner of the harbour – (taken in 2017)
it is being redeveloped into very expensive condos
one of the city’s requirements was that the facade had to be saved
rather a strange sight
now I have to write an “artisan’s bio” and find a photo to submit work for a guild sale – 😦
I would rather be warping a loom
ps.. I love that visually simple stretch of fabric. looks so tactile, I want to wrap it round my neck.

Dawn – it is so simple and a little bit wonky but I love it too and I have been wearing it around my neck.

we’d always rather be warping a loom (or the equivalent 😉)

I hope you wrote the bio really fast and got to warping the loom!

Kerry – it took half a day, but it’s short and sweet – and the tapestry loom is warped.

I’d love to see the results of the indigo bath!

Kate – I’ve kept a 30 gallon indigo vat going every summer for several years, just need it to get warmer outside to get it started.

Great idea! I do love a true indigo, such a clean colour.

Kate -maintaining a 30gal. vat is a challenge and you need to do quite a bit of dyeing to make it worthwhile.
