looking forward

December 23, 2018

we don’t have snow – just rain and wind and more rain

and grey days with the occasional sun breaking through the clouds

wishing everyone a happy solstice

looking forward to more light and a creative, peaceful  new year

Merry Christmas

and a happy holiday spent with the people you care about

for those long, dark winter evenings beside the fire

I’m preparing more paper to spin

the stash is growing

dyed with indigo, tea and kakishibu

and the most recent kami-ito/paper thread

dyed with my natural inks

just to keep busy

another boro piece, this time with a small tapestry included

the striped piece is woven on a linen warp with paper weft

from a series of notebook pages I wove several years ago

blessings to all who visit here

I’m here late, Jean, but I hope your holiday season has been warm and wonderful. Your work, and the curiosity that motivates you, always inspires me!

Kerry -I’ve been curious from an early age – one of my mother’s favorite sayings was “curiosity killed the cat”. Hope you have enjoyed the holidays, the weather hasn’t been too cold and icy and you have plans for the coming year.

We have just waved goodbye to the longest day and through the most demanding season of the year (the Wet) can now look ahead to the cooler, calmer days of the Dry. There have been tremendous storms of rain and hail, thunder and lightning, but for Christmas and the day after, it’s looking dry and calm and a bit cooler.
May your forthcoming year be satisfying and productive, may you and those you love be blessed with health and happiness.

Kate – it is always fascinating to remember that our seasons are the opposite. we are looking forward to longer, lighter days. Blessings to you and yours down under.
