I couldn’t resist this alpaca/merino blend

from Inca Dinca Do

only the merino is dyed, it is beautifully prepared and spins like a dream

once home I spun late into the night

a day to go wild – also couldn’t resist this Icelandic/silk roving from

it is as soft as a cloud

Jane will be one of the judges at Treadle Lightly

she had lots of lovely colours but I want to see how the blend dyes

there were many different wheels to talk about

and lots and lots of talk!

Wow–what a large guild! Looks like you are having lots of fun.

Tobie – the Victoria guild has approx. 160 members. This year the event was hosted by the Deep Cove guild, many members belong to both guilds. People also came from up island and one (that I know of) came from Salt Spring Is. It is always good fun.

a big bunch of spinners…i imagine you doing something like musical chairs…every 5 minutes you get up and move one wheel over and spin on that one with that fiber…

Velma – that’s a fun idea but never seen it done, some people are spinning some very serious stuff.

Alice – it is always a fun day, think some of us talk more than we spin. I was the official newsletter photographer is had to remember I had a job to do!

What fun! So many wheels and spinners together. I’m actually surprised we don’t have something of that scale on this side of the Salish Sea. Of course that would mean someone would have to organize it, right? (Not me!)

Louisa – we’ve had it annually for many years, different small groups within the guilds take it on. This year it was Deep Cove guild. They did a great job. Of course it is always the same small group of people that do the work.
