blue sky

February 22, 2016

the promise of an early Spring

P1080336and the blue sky disappeared almost as soon as I snapped the picture

more flowers

P1080333woven on a very old weave-it loom

while sitting by the fire at night

more small things for the studio tour

on the loom

P1080343rather colourful tea towels

with a problem – only seen when I took the picture

the pattern is turned boulevard

P1080341it is exactly the same threading as the samples I wove last summer

but – the needle points to where the warp threads are slipping together

no problem with the samples!

it is threaded 2 to a dent in a 12 dent reed

1 background thread and 1 pattern thread

how to fix it?

when this towel is finished I’ll cut it off and re-thread the reed

changing which background thread goes with the pattern thread

and hope that fixes the problem

I’ve made a note on the print-out – in red! P1080345from the samples you can see that the pattern is a little different on the back and front

little squares on one side and vertical warp threads on the other

the dark warp and weft threads were not included in the tea towels

lessons to be learned – in weaving they are endless

Seems to be the theme for the month: warping issues!! I am counting down until the 29th and hoping they magically go away….Pretty towels nevertheless.
