time and the weather

October 27, 2015

the season is changing noticeably on a daily basis

P1070833the Japanese maple is early

P1070839 the zucchini is still producing

too many diverse interests are demanding attention

P1070838a student is struggling to finish her weaving before leaving on a Mexican holiday

P1070836 a half sheet of paper painted with sumi ink

one end of the sheet torn – not enough time to finish the other end

the ink made the paper stiff, it is more difficult to handle,

I will try dyeing the other half after it is spun

P1070829the weaving is off the loom but not hemmed or washed

now to wind the next warp

“time has a wonderful way of showing us what really matters”

i think ink makes paper much stiffer than dye. it would be interesting to do a comparison of several kinds… the rainbow of thread is lovely indeed.

Velma – it took too much time and energy to grind my little ink stick for just a half sheet, when I dye the skein I’ll buy some premixed liquid sumi and see how it works. Unfortunately it has additives.

There’s a folk song I know that has the line, “it seems now that nothing goes faster than time.” I find myself thinking that almost daily . . .
