new blue

May 30, 2015

the vat is warming upP1060892the drape on my bedroom window faded in 2 years

several dips freshened it but you can still see the fade line

a favorite, natural colour ramie and cotton shirt

gets a new life

P1060904 old cotton sheets, indigo dyed, are wonderful for rag weaving

handspun cotton singles soaked up the indigo

cottonwood Marlin Selanderwoven on its own the linen seems to be behaving

(don’t want to tempt fate!)

samples first – there are tripled threads in both the warp and weft

it is very difficult to see any weaving mistakes

P1060897a lucky find at the consignment store – jet buttons

the ones on the left had rhinestones, only one left (on the top)

the button, bottom right, has a tiny stone where the lines cross

could it be a diamond?

Velma – the buttons are cut glass and quite heavy. I don’t have plans for the weaving, just have fun and see what happens.
