fun in the sun

April 27, 2015

it’s been a week of celebrating

I feel truly grateful for friends and family

love and laughter

peace, joy and creativity

P1060756 native plant sale at Swan Lake Nature Sanctuary

P1060757Mary is deciding which trillium to buy

P1060765the birds were singing

P1060761the lupins are blooming

but then, for the first time in all my years of driving

I locked my keys in the car

P1060766thank you James for coming to my rescue

it took him all of 5 minutes

then he turned to me and said

“Mom, don’t ask how I learned to do this”!

isn’t it good I brought up clever sons?

P1060775Iain lights the candles, supervised by his Mom

P1060779Jill serves the cake she made and decorated

(the years are flying by when the youngest grandchild can bake the cake!!)

and now it is back to work

the indigo vat is warming up and I’m preparing things to dye

P1060792gathered and wrapped shibori

looking forward to another creative year

the birthday is wonderful, but having a kid who can jimmy a door lock is ALSO wonderful! i laughed aloud when i saw the picture: reminded me of my one trip to hawaii when my friend and i were getting ready for a picnic and she locked her keys into her trunk. there were at least two (maybe three!) big men trying to help jimmy the lock. a first for everything, but hopefully many, many more birthdays for you.

Aimee – he said “don’t take my picture doing something illegal” – I couldn’t resist, just so relieved he could do it. apparently it is almost impossible with new cars and if there are airbags in the door panels forget it. The things you learn and hope you will never need again!

Happy day, Jean! It looks like a pretty much perfect day, in every way. And you must be excited to be getting ready to dye in the indigo!

Heather – I’m trying to ignore them but they just keep coming – of course I wouldn’t like the alternative!
