fun in the sun
it’s been a week of celebrating
I feel truly grateful for friends and family
love and laughter
peace, joy and creativity
native plant sale at Swan Lake Nature Sanctuary
Mary is deciding which trillium to buy
but then, for the first time in all my years of driving
I locked my keys in the car
thank you James for coming to my rescue
it took him all of 5 minutes
then he turned to me and said
“Mom, don’t ask how I learned to do this”!
isn’t it good I brought up clever sons?
Iain lights the candles, supervised by his Mom
Jill serves the cake she made and decorated
(the years are flying by when the youngest grandchild can bake the cake!!)
and now it is back to work
the indigo vat is warming up and I’m preparing things to dye
looking forward to another creative year
I didn’t know it was your birthday! Blessings and best wishes for a happy, healthy, productive year! Hugs!

Happy day, Jean! It looks like a pretty much perfect day, in every way. And you must be excited to be getting ready to dye in the indigo!

the birthday is wonderful, but having a kid who can jimmy a door lock is ALSO wonderful! i laughed aloud when i saw the picture: reminded me of my one trip to hawaii when my friend and i were getting ready for a picnic and she locked her keys into her trunk. there were at least two (maybe three!) big men trying to help jimmy the lock. a first for everything, but hopefully many, many more birthdays for you.

Aimee – he said “don’t take my picture doing something illegal” – I couldn’t resist, just so relieved he could do it. apparently it is almost impossible with new cars and if there are airbags in the door panels forget it. The things you learn and hope you will never need again!
