new beginnings

December 31, 2014

off the loomP1060252moved to the sewing machine

cutting more rags

the process is endless

P1060246finished – thousand of little stitches

the binding is made from scraps – it makes a neat finish

but

the piece is now much too neat, tidy, finished to be considered boro

there is a lifetime of difference between producing something to fill a desperate need

and creating for pleasure and artistic satisfaction

(more on this in a future blog)

P1060234also finished – 4 ounces of fine handspun tussah silk

ready for the dye pot

P1060231a Christmas gift book

experimenting with handspun

P1060240starting the new year with a naked loom

what to weave??

the choice is overwhelming

best wishes to all

thank you for visiting throughout the year

a special thanks to those who leave a comment

may 2015 bring everything you need and wish for

with a few lovely surprises

Happy New Year. May your 2015 be filled with fun love happiness and fiber.
It has been such a pleasure reading with you over the year. You have given me so much inspiration and much more to think about. I look forward to 2015 and maybe finally sharing some in return.
Your boro, I think, filled the need for which it was created. To help you better understand and further you along your quest…. so far. Who knows where it will take you next?

so happy, happy new year. i think that boro happens, but your piece is the beginning of something huge, like the name of one of claire van vleit’s books (for a poem) beauty in use. i have a feeling this boro thing is something that happens. how will you use it?

Velma – happy, healthy, creative new year to you. hope it is filled with moving events. yes, boro just happens, over time. think it will just hang/move around until it finds a comfortable place.

Your “boro” turned out so lovely. I love the blue and orange together. Can never get enough silk! The new year is looking promising 😉 For me I’m thinking more kumihimo…
