rainbow colours

rainbow colours on a grey rainy day
another warp finished
I couldn’t wait to see how the over-twisted silk would behave
patiently twist the fringe before washing
the over-twist was woven in random stripes
it gathered as expected, after washing
from a finished width of 21.5 inches to 12 inches
difficult to photograph on a grey, rainy day
hung outside in the rain I snapped a quick picture – can you see the rain drops on the lens?
now the fringe on the second piece needs to be twisted
I’m hoping the eyelash weft will fluff up even more after washing
the dyes in the warp are; indigo, rhubarb root, pomegranate, henna, madder, cochineal and logwood

Great shrinkies. The rainbows are a bonus.

Alice – I was skeptical about the “shrinkie” yarn but it worked well. very difficult to wind on a bobbin, it is so fine I couldn’t feel it between my fingers, could barely see it and being black on grey, dull days didn’t help. still have rather a large reel of it??

Lovely! That should dazzle anyone who thinks natural dye colours are dull! Happy fringe twizzling! I always get stuck on that step. I still have a chenille scarf that’s been waiting about 10 years. Urp.

Louisa – natural dyes generally give strong, bright colour on silk. I twist fringes at night in front of the tv when I can weigh the scarf down with a couple books, it goes quickly then.

Neki – don’t expect much of a change, the eyelash yarn is beautiful. my supplier can’t get it anymore but I still have some left.

Myra – it’s too bad you can’t feel it over the internet, the eyelash one is soft and fuzzy.

Velma – a lot more energy than I’m feeling after cleaning the roadside gutters in the pouring rain.
