weaving with words

February 8, 2014

the weaving vocabulary can seem daunting to beginners – like learning a foreign language

students 214sleying the reed

students 215tying on and adjusting the tension

doing the same on my floor loom

it is much easier with more space to work in

weaving-finishing 425warping back to front

with the raddle and lease sticks in place

I have a 16 harness/shaft loom

with texsolv heddles

not only is it confusing to students but spellcheck is most unhappy!

lolbrarythink I’ll make a copy and hang it on the loom

have to  find my lipstick first!

Alice – I couldn’t sew without an iron – but what is sewing?? guess I’m just a bit behind the times – thank goodness!

Uh-oh! I don’t ever wear lipstick! Will lipbalm do? That admonition so cracks me up. My husband would not be alarmed at coming home and finding dishes in the sink. He’d think it was just an ordinary day at our house! However there is great truth in having the right mindset when you are creating.

Louisa – you and me both, I just don’t need a clean dress and mascara to warp the loom . How times have changed.
