another studio tour
sometimes I wonder why I do this??
yes, sometimes there are good sales – and sometimes not!
but it does encourage me to work
the second silk scarf will be finished, off the loom
and a new demonstration warp ready to go
a third linen workbag dyed with pomegranate/iron
folded, block resisted, dyed with logwood
the colour was impossible to photograph – sage green and brown-y purple
a 4 oz. skein of silk that was pink – too pink! – top dyed in the logwood
in the evenings, buttons made with scraps of indigo dyed cotton
and more flowers

You make such beautiful things! Could not resist and ordered the Robin Kimmerer book you talk about in another post. I absolutely LOVE the purple skein, that turned out so well!

i hear you about wondering why you sign up for things once they are right on top of you. but holiday season awaits, and it’s true it keeps you busy, even if not deep in the exact things you’d want to be doing.

Good luck with the sales.
Do you arrange the studio tour weekends through an art association? Just curious. Our city needs to get the art scene moving and I am trying to figure out how other places do it.

Deb – this tour is a biannual event arranged by the municipal community rec. center. Participants need to work in a studio in the municipality, I have participated for 7 years, you pay a fee – it helps to cover advertising. There are many different tours in the area, some groups form their own committee. Some tours are specific to one art/craft form but the most successful seem to be those with a variety and not too great a distance between studios. My area is restricted enough that many people do it as a weekend walk.
