summer holiday
this was it – a quick trip to the big city and it definitely didn’t feel like summer!
Granville Island, Vancouver
has its own micro brewery
a little shopping – dye, soap, silk, a fabulous polymer clay button
a handwoven, organic cotton towel from India
and not a single book!
the detail in the woven borders is what sold me – gorgeous
the covered mall has everythingproduce
and ethnic food from around the world
my reason for going
the opening of Bryan’s exhibition at The Silk Weaving Studio
as it is not my work all you get is a glimpse
I had such a good time at the opening I forgot to take pictures
Bryan was surrounded by an appreciative audience, all you could see was the top of his head
day 2 was torrential rain
and after a 45 minute bus ride, a 1 hour 40 minute ferry trip and a 50 minute drive
I felt a little like these faded roses
–past my due date!
so what do you think?
lovely roses! and bryan’s work..what can i say that hasn’t been already said? great to hear it all went well.

SO many lovelies to admire! 1st the gray wet weather. It’s still sunny and in the 90s F here; I love it but sometimes cold RAIN is so exciting. The towel…sigh…I so admire the Indian cotton textiles. Dragonfruit and mangosteen, YUM! Bryan’s exhibit…icing on the cake.

Heather – Bryan had a large crowd of admiring fans. I’m always eager to go and delighted to come home.
Velma – the towel is bath towel size! I simply could not resist.
Blandina – the triangles up the border require a colour change in each weft shot and the thread is finer than sewing thread. I will try some samples – with thicker yarn.

I would love to see more detailed pictures of Bryan’s exhibition, your teasers look amazing. I hope he will blog about it. Everything in your post looks great too (well, maybe the cakes aren’t to my taste but they’re still clever). If only I had a smell i phone for those wonderful faded roses, so beautiful.

I was wondering if you had been at the opening and seen Bryan. His pieces look terrific, I would like to be there and see with my eyes, but it would take longer than it took you!
I love the Indian tea towel, will you put your hand at making the amazing border?
