Saturday was the opening of a new public market
located in the ground flood of the recently renovated Hudson’s Bay department store building
it’s a “foodies” paradise
featuring local produce and products
handmade goat and sheep cheese from Salt Spring Island Cheese
has an astounding selection of oils and balsamic vinegar
of course there is fresh, local produce
spices, preserves, seafood, bakery goods, honey
too many to list
and a choice of places to eat
a demonstration kitchen
and homemade pie
the decor is industrial and the smells were intoxicating
across the road is the Beehive Wool Shop
with a colourful baby theme window
inside – yarn that dreams are made of
a day of colour and fibre
