Saturday was the opening of a new public market

located in the ground flood of the recently renovated Hudson’s Bay department store building

it’s a “foodies” paradise

featuring local produce and products

handmade goat and sheep cheese from Salt Spring Island Cheese

Olive the Senses

has an astounding selection of oils and balsamic vinegar

of course there is fresh, local produce

 spices, preserves, seafood, bakery goods, honey

too many to list

and a choice of places to eat

the decor is industrial and the smells were intoxicating

across the road is the Beehive Wool Shop

      Velma – it has been a long time coming to this small city but looks like it will be successful, very well attended and people were excited – me too!

      Blandina – there were dozens of choices and you could sample all of them, it was impossible to pick a favorite.
      Heather – not everyone was ready for the opening, it is only going to get better.
