sleepless in Victoria

June 8, 2013

this is one of those ideas that come to you in the middle of the night- when sleep is elusive

bojagi 002

a little bojagi piece (14″ X 16″)

stitched from cotton and linen napkins,  natural dye samples

shibori 184

pole wrapped – arashi shibori – I love the mix of colours

bojagi 098

four dips in the indigo vat – a perfect storm

it is interesting to see that some colours have changed quite dramatically

I think it is due to the thiourea dioxide in the indigo vat

adding more, mostly indigo dyed pieces and maybe another pole wrapped square – or two?

I wonder where this will end!

Simply gorgeous. I feel so lazy when I see everything else friends are working on.

Susan – thanks, I should have thought of that before I started but not unhappy with the results and there are interesting possibilities in the future. have put it on the list.
Judy – doing any work creates more ideas and questions that demand answers.

Neki, Lis – this is just the start of a larger piece and there will be more of the original colours and at least one more smaller arashi piece.

Still surprised at how much the very tightly resisted areas were changed.

Interesting results although I have to confess I like the colours before the dyeing but I like the rain effect of the arashi.
