seedy saturday
February 17, 2013
yesterday was “seedy Saturday” – an annual event for serious gardeners
there are local seeds of every variety
community organized and eco-friendly
no pictures because there were crowds of people
held in the Victoria Conference Center
which has a colourful spindle whorl as well as two totem poles
while there we had a wander through the old Empress Hotel
the Bengal Room was a favorite haunt in my old days, still with an air of the British Empire
afternoon tea is an extravagant treat in Victoria
the usual shops, much too grand for my tastes
we didn’t stop but went to the pub for beer and bison burgers!

beer and bison…sounds very non-extravagant and quite yummy.

Velma -yup! bison has become popular and this area is becoming well known for small micro- breweries with an endless selection of handcrafted beer and English style pubs.

Sounds like a great day. I’ve never gone for tea at the Empress, I’ll really have to do it sometime.

Heather – I’ve been several times over the years but the best was with my daughter-in-law’s Brownie group for a Princess tea. It was magical!
