Summer weaving

August 11, 2012

the demo warp for Fibrations is looking good, a Log Cabin variation

this is my first time weaving on the new loom, I’m not a big fan of table looms but this one is user-friendly

and the floor loom is getting a bleached linen sample warp

it’s not good weather (hot and dry) for weaving linen but the warp is 40/2 and behaves itself nicely

using an old favorite 4 harness pattern, Triple Draught Bird’s Eye from Marguerite Davison

and it suddenly occurred to me that the loom cushion I’m sitting on is the same pattern, woven 30 years ago.

white linen and Summer just seem to go together

I bought this jacket at a consignment store, on sale!  Love the detail on the back, the French seams,  fabric buttons and look at the pockets. It fits perfectly. Maybe after a season or two it will end up in the indigo vat.

    Hi Jean,

I am impressed with your weaving. That is one textile art I’ve never had a chance to explore or understand. Thanks for visiting me at daintytime!

Velma – I introduce all my students to Davison, it’s a classic. I seldom get lucky with 2nd hand clothes but the jacket is a winner.
