the rag weaving is moving along
I’ve finished weaving the length of patterned rag that is required
several indigo dyed fabrics are slightly different shades and I’m alternating them in the weaving and also adding short lengths of the pattern fabric to create interest
the log cabin pattern is obvious now, good thing I corrected the threading mistake
rag weaving is a little like weaving tapestry, inserting weft threads in the shed by hand
slow but enjoyable.

Lovely. I really like the soft texture. Do you tear your strips?

I tear anything that is large enough, rags from clothing and silk I cut.

jean, you reminded me about my on-loom weaving, i often weave slowly, rag or tapestry as opposed to yardage… even yardage will be something slow as opposed to just throwing the shuttle and changing treadling. hmm…so simple, but i’d never thought aobut it…

Velma – my loom came with a fly shuttle attachment that I’ve never used! weaving is my way of slowing down in this crazy world. I love the feel of the yarns in my fingers.
