shades of Spring

March 12, 2012

it is cold, we have 100 k/hr. ++ winds blowing

but – I am thinking Spring

Japanese plum – ume – are blooming outside the studio

there  must be nectar in the blossoms because the birds love them

plum blossoms are a favorite design in Japanese textiles

silk shibori

kimono silks – on the left a kimono collar lining and a full kimono

playing with silk yarns for my next warp

pink is grand-daughter, Jillian’s favorite colour, not mine

but some of the natural dyes give lovely shades, especially on silk

oh, Velma – I’m not showing the half of it, mostly with you in mind. Last night and early today we had winds reaching 115 k/hr. the big ferries stopped running and 75,000 people are without elec. but we do have blossoms!

Your spring must be early. Our kanji is praying for spring in Fujino. I hope the cherry blossoms are out when we are there. Love your threads and fabric – Have a great week.
