storm damage

January 23, 2012

the calm after the storm

there is almost a sunlit hush

the snowdrops are just popping up

and today I feel truly blessed

the roofer tells me wind gusts reached 127 km/h last night

I slept like a baby but – got up to find the skylight in my kitchen had hurtled off into the garden

blessed because there was hardly any rain and an understanding roofer came quickly

feeling a bit blown away myself.

think the Dragon visited last night , annoyed that I featured his female counterpart

Glad that you slept like a baby, nature can be very frightening.

No wonder we almost could not get home on Sunday. Everything was intact when we arrived. Hopefully the skylight arrives soon.

Wow! Hope your roofer fixes it so it can’t go flying again! It was somewhat windy here in Vancouver but not nearly that strong. My bamboo keeps knocking on my window. Do you think it wants to come in?

Louisa – I’ve ordered a new skylight the old one with a chunk out of one corner is keeping out the rain (I hope) for the time being. I hope you have clumping bamboo otherwise it will come in whether you invite it or not.

Yikes, it takes a mighty big wind to blow a skylight off. Glad you’re safe and there wasn’t more damage. We hardly got any wind on Salt Spring, very lucky.

Excellent photos really capture the joy of smallness…down low, out of sight except to those who go out of their way, a world of exquisite detail on a tiny scale.

Snowdrops always catch at my eyes and heart when they bloom so ahead of the rest of the garden.
