fireside tea

November 18, 2011

“I sit beside the fire and think of all that I have seen, of meadow-flowers and butterflies

 in summers that have been;

Of yellow leaves and gossamer in autumns that there were, with morning mist and silver sun

 and wind upon my hair.”

from; The Lord of the Rings – J.R.R. Tolkien

and there is nothing so nice as a good cup of tea and a wee bit of chocolate

a surprise package arrived from my friend Meg, who has a charming holiday home in Gascony, South-West France.

if ever you are in need of an adventure in the French countryside you can book a stay at “Au Tourneur”

Meg’s daughter, Martine has just opened her second chocolate/sweet shop

 if you drop in for a treat tell Martine I sent you.

Meg and I first met many years ago at Japanese night classes at UVic.

and now to tea and chocolate – and knitting by the fire.

    lovely gift, chocolate is always in good taste! tea is delightful, but hot cocoa sounds delicious right now. what are you knitting? i am still spinning during the slow times at work (my eccentricity knows no bounds!).

    Tea and chocolate and kniting and fire: what a perfect combination!
    I love your friend’s property, it could be a fantastic holiday in the Summer.
