girls day out

August 30, 2011

the girl’s birthdays are 4 days apart – in May. We had a belated celebration yesterday.

they started the day with tongue tattoos, Carrie had added blue streaks in her hair. She was wearing her newly woven scarf and Jill had a hand painted silk scarf from my stash. Scarves are “cool” even in the summer.

first stop was Butterfly Gardens

Victoria is a tourist town, this is one of the well-done attractions.

the colours and patterns are a treat for the senses.

butterflies fly freely

birds hide in the foliage

the koi are enormous – no raccoons!

and the orchids are blooming.

lunch at a nice Greek restaurant – with linen tablecloths

and then on to the “scratch patch”, where the girls each had a little bag to fill with polished semi-precious stones

what about this one?   this picture has been removed due to some rather suspicious repeat activity.

look, Carrie is this a diamond?

Jill didn’t find her diamond ring but it was fun just the same.

Carrie, and I am certain Jillian, had a fabulous day! And the girls are truly blessed to have such an amazing Nanna!
Carrie has been to the Scratch Patch and Butterfly World numerous times – because she loves both – but the fancy restaurant…. She went on and on and on about it. Yummy food and a lovely setting. Thank you Nanna! (from Carrie)

oh I haven’t been to scratch patch since my own kids were about that age…15 or so years ago…it was (and looks like it still is) such a fun place.

thanks, Velma and Nat, I had at least as much fun as the kids – possibly more. And we’re doing it again next year.
