solar patterns and the smell of eucalyptus

the silk scarf, first solar dyed with mullein leaves and then wrapped with hollyhock flowers and the weed “spring gold”.

and a scrap of cotton sheeting rolled up with frozen marigolds and eucalyptus leaves. The interesting thing about this is the plant material was evenly distributed but the strong patterning occurs mainly on  fabric on the outside of the bundle.

I found 8 brass napkin rings in a junk store and slipped them around the fabric bundles. They leave an olive green impression.

this piece smells wonderful!

my second bojagi well under way

the eco dyed cloth works well when it is used as small accent pieces. Isolating the patterns seems to give them more of a presence.

I’ve used 3 different eco dyed napkins as well as silk and handwoven silk/cotton. The orange/madder is a linen damask napkin.
