I’m spinning

June 2, 2011

almost finished spinning 4 oz., 2 ply natural dyed silk. the spinning has taken approximately 24 hours, the dyeing maybe 1 1/2 hour. Then I will weave or in this case knit a shawl. People wonder why I charge $120 for a handspun/handwoven scarf. I wonder how much they earn an hour??

the colours are a little more subtle than I was attempting – next time!  Wish you could feel it, it is very scrunchy.

yesterday I received another call from an older weaver selling all her fibre stuff. Two of my students and I went to see what she had.

I came home with a 4 harness Woolhouse table loom. It needs a good cleaning and some attention but has 2 reeds and at a good price. My students got bits and pieces of equipment so we came home happy.

It’s a good teaching loom. And the grandkids will be happy weaving on it this summer.

I love that colour. I think you may have sold your shawl before it has been woven or knitted… cheers Kathy
