blue Sunday

March 20, 2011

–it always seems like such a small collection of dyed materials after several days of hard work. But, indigo dyeing is addictive. This is the backing for the coverlet and the reason for starting the indigo vat, drying in the breeze. It has been wrapped around a thick rope four times, once from each corner and dipped 3 times for each corner.

Using the same technique I dyed a napkin, it was a pale yellow to start and another napkin which was first dyed in mahonia.

I have a project in mind for all the napkins but  need to be patient and finish several things first.

and a few bits and pieces for patching and stitching.

Ahhh, indigo blue always makes me breathe more deeply. It is a colour beyond hue, has some kind of magic to it.
