“they” say that the winter we never had is about to arrive. I’ll believe it when I see it! But the birds seem to know something.

This downy woodpecker is competing with the nuthatch and the Western common bushtits for peanut butter suet — their favorite.

I love the bushtits soft colouring and their long narrow tails. They come and go quickly, in flocks of several dozen.

And overseeing the scene is the ever-present crow. Always ready to voice an opinion.
