valentine give-away

February 8, 2011

–they’re RED, just in time for a valentine. Two small give-aways, for two different people, a needle case and a pin cushion. All hand-woven fabrics and hand stitched.

The pieced, inset circles are my way of using small scraps of hand-woven. I do a few of them when the mood strikes.

The button is glass from my grandmother’s jar.

the needle case has 4 felt “pages”,  a small scissors pocket and a pocket in the back. Scissors and pins not included.

Leave a comment and your name will be added to the draw on Friday 11th. Sorry but don’t think the mailman will get to you for valentines.

The scrap circle is beautiful. Could you show us how you made it?
    Thanks a lot!

    thanks, everyone
I just throw all the tiny bits in a shoe box for when I run out of other things to do. They are handstitched on a soft cotton backing–mom’s old sheets–I cut out a few backing pieces, different sizes, different shapes, and put them in the shoebox, too. Along with some thrums and you’re ready to go without having to spend time rounding things up. My emergency stitching kit–ready to go babysitting.

Velma, the needlebook was a “no brainer” as books are very much on my mind–thanks to you.

Such a brilliant way to use the tiny scraps. Thank your for the great inspiration – I don’t throw those little bits away either, but hadn’t figured out what to do with them! Love the towels btw. 😉

What a great way to use up scraps! I should try making some – god knows I have enough scraps – but I never seem to get around to it.
